Zaurus users - move to Opera 7

Due to the system meltdown on my PDA, I got a dose of Opera 6, the built-in browser on the standard ROM 3.10 for the Zaurus 5500. Previously, the differences between that and the v.7.30 available on various feeds was not so apparent, but working with Wordpress and some of this other, javascript-heavy, web apps has made me see the light. This is being prepared with the Mobile Admin plugin for Wordpress and Opera 7 on the PDA after an all-too-frequent round of password resetting w/Wordpress. That’s another bug I have to track down.

It may be a wiki that replaces this blog — after all, a monolog is not going to answer all my questions. PmWiki has the inside track, with a simple install, no database requirement, small, and reasonably mobile-friendly. Phpwiki proved agravating to install and never ran, despite advertising very modest server requirements. (It is a configuration problem that I can’t seem to solve; it does not want to read it’s configuration file.) Docuwiki looked nice but was too big at 12MB for the install archive file. Pawflawiki integrates well with the LightNEasy CMS I’m tinkering with, and is still in the running, but seems too light-weight.

The issue with wikis is vandalism — if anyone can comment, then a creep or bot can fill your site with crap. I’ve seen a number of neglected, unprotected wikis and forums destroyed this way. So we will have to test and bang on all the doors and locks.
